Seasons One and Two of the Epic Online Comedy Hit from Felicia Day "Spawns" Into Living Rooms Nationwide -- May 19, 2009
NEW YORK, April 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Straight from the Internet...! The quirky cast of Felicia Day's award-winning web-based hit indie comedy, The Guild, is taking the series beyond the 'net and straight into the living rooms of its devoted fans with two all-new DVDs featuring Seasons One and Two. The Guild: Season One and The Guild: Season Two are available beginning today for pre-order exclusively on Amazon.com as both physical DVDs and digital downloads, with a customer availability date of May 19, 2009. As a unique Amazon.com exclusive, customers who purchase Season One or Season Two on DVD will get the corresponding season as a free digital copy from Amazon Video on Demand. Customers will be able to watch The Guild online immediately upon its release date using a Mac or PC, or on a variety of compatible devices. Season Two of the series also will be available for the first time as a digital HD offering from Amazon Video on Demand's new HD catalog.
Produced by Kim Evey (Gorgeous Tiny Chicken Machine Show) and created by and starring Felicia Day of Joss Whedon's hugely popular Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog and Buffy The Vampire Slayer, The Guild has quickly won over millions of online viewers with satirical storylines that follow the daily lives of six online gamers and their on- and off-line interactions. The jam-packed DVDs of Seasons One and Two contain hours of additional content, including gag reels, cast interviews, commentary tracks, behind-the-scenes featurettes, audition footage, table read footage, fan art, hidden "Easter eggs" and a PDF of the Season Two script.
"We're thrilled to have the opportunity to bring the first two seasons of The Guild to DVD, by popular demand," said Ms. Day, who also has appeared in House and Monk. "The response to the web series thus far has been absolutely overwhelming and the following for The Guild just keeps on growing. We're so excited to bring these episodes together - both for our tried-and-true fans and those just experiencing the webisodes for the very first time."
In The Guild: Season One, Cyd Serman, a.k.a. Codex, (Ms. Day) has hit bottom. Dumped by her boyfriend, her employer, and her therapist, she drowns her sorrows the way any modern girl would - in the world of online gaming. But, after a fellow player, "Zaboo" (Sandeep Parikh), mistakes their in-game rapport for real-world romance and shows up on her doorstep, Codex brings all the members of her online guild face-to-face - with very awkward results....
Picking up where Season One left off, Season Two of The Guild finds Codex evicted at the hands of Zaboo's jilted mother - and Zaboo shows no signs of giving up on their perceived romance. As Codex struggles to deal with her issues and simultaneously advise her Guild-mates on their lives, a mysterious neighbor begins to show interest in Codex, sending her life further into turmoil...and all this occurs before the game's server is unexpectedly shut down!
The Guild: Season One and The Guild: Season Two will be available exclusively on Amazon.com via CreateSpace DVD on Demand, a solution which manufactures DVDs only in response to customer demand, an innovative manufacturing and distribution solution for filmmakers.
Felicia Day is represented by International Creative Management, which negotiated the deal with CreateSpace and Amazon.com.
